Disney+ and Hulu have ordered a reboot of the musical dramedy, but the author argues it cannot recapture the original's magic due to cast deaths, changed social norms, and the show's datedness.
01Summary
- 01Disney+ and Hulu have ordered a reboot of 'Glee', with a completed script but no official storyline or casting announced.
- 02Ryan Murphy has floated the idea to many of the original stars, according to the report.
- 03The original show ran for six seasons and ended 11 years ago, in 2015.
- 04Three cast members have died since the show ended: Cory Monteith, Naya Rivera, and Mark Salling.
- 05Chris Colfer previously said a reboot would be 'really hard to do' without Rivera.
02Why it matters
For fans who loved the show, this reboot risks undermining the memory of departed cast members and may feel out of step with today's more mainstream LGBTQ+ representation.
